Twitter is delaying the execution of account verifications

for its paid Twitter Blue subscription plan until after the midterm elections.

One day after the platform released an updated version of its iOS app

 which promises to allow users who pay a monthly subscription fee to get a blue checkmark 

 a feature that CEO Elon Musk has suggested as a way to combat spam on the platform

he decision to postpone the new feature was made.

According to the app's most recent update, users must now pay $7.99 a month to use the company's Twitter Blue verification tool,

"just like the celebrities, businesses, and politicians you already follow."
