Former Twitter workers have complained loudly about the platform's recent acquisition by Elon Musk
but Jack Dorsey, the company's co-founder, claimed responsibility.
In a tweet on Saturday, Dorsey admitted that Musk had fired thousands of people in the company's first week of ownership.
Dorsey quickly followed up with another tweet in which he thanked Twitter's staff.
"I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don't expect that to be mutual in this moment...or ever…and I understand," he wrote.
